A two-year-old child died after being injected with a medicine at a pharmaceutical shop by a chemist in Delhi. The girl’s parents had approached the chemist, who had suggested that they should avoid consulting a doctor for a minorcomplaint and instead he himself injected her with the medicine.
As the parents took her home, she was unconscious on the way. Afterwards, they reached GTB Hospital carrying her, where she was declared dead. The chemist is arrested for causing death due to negligence.
Muskan’s mother, who works as a labourer in Shahdara, told the police that her child has been suffering from fever and chest congestion from the past few days and she had gone to the medical shop nearby to inquire about a local doctor. But, the chemist, Manish Raja, insisted on treating her with some tablets.
After having the tablets, her condition deteriorated more, so the child’s mother again approached Raja on Thursday. At this time, he offered to administer an intra-venous paracetamol to the child. The child’s mother told the police that she turned cold within 10-15 minutes and was immediately taken to the hospital.
